  1. National Small Industry Day is annually observed across India on 30 August to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contribution of small-scale industries to the nation’s economic development.
  2. United Nations’ International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances is annually observed every year on 30 August across the world to raise awareness about the global crime of enforced disappearance and to commemorate and pay respect to those who have undergone enforced disappearances.
  3. International Whale Shark Day is annually celebrated on 30 August to raise awareness about the plight of whale sharks, the largest fish in the world.
  4. The SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, has been honored with the prestigious National Award for e-Governance 2023 (Gold) in recognition of its groundbreaking application of emerging technologies to deliver citizen-centric services.
  5. Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s film ‘Sardar Udham’ won the Best Hindi Film award in 69th National Film Awards.

  12. India got its 54th tiger reserve and Rajasthan has acquired its fifth tiger reserve as National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) on 22 August 2023, gave its final approval to Dholpur-Karauli Reserve.
  13. The Ministry of Defence took a significant step towards bolstering the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities by signing a groundbreaking contract with Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a state-owned company based in Visakhapatnam for the acquisition of five fleet support ships (FSS).
